Manly = Foster Family:
Abraham and Edith were married in Morgan Co., Ohio, 1883. They came to Sac County after the wedding to farm.
Dalton, b. abt. 1884 died at the age of 4, of diphtheria.
Howard, b. 1887 farmed south of Early and moved to Sac City in 1934.
Ralph, b. 1891 lived in Early and later Storm Lake.
Beulah, b. 1900 was adopted in 1904, per the obituary text below.
"Beulah F. [Lowery] Rutledge was born Feb. 19, 1900, in Pomeroy to Smith and Claudia Lowery. At the age of four she came to live with her foster parents, Abraham Lincoln and Edith Bingham Manly in the Pleasant Hill community south of Early. She was baptized in the Pleasant Hill Methodist Church and attended country school through the eighth grade and graduated from Early High School in 1918.
Beulah married John W. Rutledge on Feb. 22, 1920 at Sac City. After her marriage Beulah and John took a train to Bowden, Alberta, Canada where they homesteaded, living in Canada for nearly ten years. They returned to the United States moving to York, Neb. due to the illness of John's father. In 1930 they moved to Early and after John's death in 1963 Beulah returned to York.
She was a member of the United Methodist Church and the Cultus Club (Women's Club). Her hobbies included painting, handiwork, community theater and reading. Preceding her in death were her parents, foster parents; a sister, Doris Wadsley; a brother, Kenneth Scott; three foster brothers, Clel, Ralph, and Dalton Manly; a son, Robert S. Rutledge; a granddaughter, Kathryn Rutledge and an infant granddaughter, Carolyn H. Woodke.
