General Information
Had a blacksmith shop and carpentry shop on the NW corner of Lot 8, Concession 2 North, of Dundas Street, with hired men. This place community became known as Hawkins' Corners, after William.

William Hawkins succeeded Francis Shaver as Lodge Master at Lodge #1027, some year after 1866, at Hawkin's Corners (hamlet in Toronto Twp). It seems likely that several of the Rutledge siblings' men were involved in the Orange. William's brother-in-law, William Johnson (husband of Mary Rutledge, Eliza's sister) may be the same man described with regard to the founding of the Malton Lodge: http://www.mississauga.ca/file/COM/9634_MaltonBook_PartTwo.pdf
