General Information
It is possible that this William Johnson, son of William Johnson and Mary Rutledge, may have been the one mentioned in the Mississauga history about Malton, with regard to the Orange Order:
"The first Orange Order in Toronto Twp...was founded in Grahamsville in 1820 by Irishman John Rutledge [ED: currently not known to be related to the Rutledges of this website, possibly a distant cousin - TR]... The gentlemen of Orange persuasion would become members of whatever order was formed, so the Orangemen of Malton and surrounding communities attended the Grahamsville Lodge until they could found their own Order... On August 30, 1862, a charter was issued to William Johnson for the Malton Orange Lodge #528."

This William Johnson is said by Sarah N. to be either the husband or son of Mary Rutledge, her ancestor. This may be possible, especially since there is a William Hawkins (son of Mary's sister Eliza (Rutledge) Hawkins) who also succeeded as Grand Master at Lodge #1027, after 1866, at Hawkin's Corners (hamlet in Toronto Twp). See William Hawkins' profile.
